About Pindwara

Pindwara is a town in Sirohi district of Rajasthan. Known for the beautiful marble carvings, city serves as a major hub for cement and marble industry. Some of the biggest cement units are situated here. The city belongs to Jodhpur division & Sumerpur, Sirohi and Sheoganj are some of the nearby cities from here. The city is also home to many ancient temples that are frequently visited by people from all over. There are also many tribal villages near the city.

Geography of Pindwara

Bearing the geographical coordinates of 24.7945°N and 73.055°E, city is located at an average elevation of 372 meters or 1220 feet above sea level. The city is located 24 KM away from the district city of Sirohi, 100 KM from Udaipur and 70 KM from Mount Abu. It is surrounded by Sheoganj Tehsil towards North, Sirohi Tehsil towards West, Mount Abu Tehsil towards West and Kotra Tehsil towards South.Summers are quite hot here with maximum temperature reaching 44 °C in the month of June. The best time to visit here in the months of October to March.

Transport in Pindwara

Pindwara is well connected to other nearby cities with a good road and rail network.  There are two major national highways, NH14 and NH76, passing through the city and connecting it to cities like Udaipur, Sirohi, Pali and Palanpur. One can feel assured about frequent bus services available on different routes. Pindwara railway station is a major railway station that connects the city to some of the major Indian cities like Mysore, Bangalore, Delhi, Ajmer and Jaipur. It is the second largest railway station of Sirohi district. Udaipur is the nearest airport from here ensuring an easy air travel.

Culture of Pindwara

Hindi and Rajasthani are the local languages spoken here. There is a huge number of people involved here in marble carvings work. There are mass marble carvings of Sri Ram Temple done here. As per the census of 2011, city has a population of 24,487 of which 12,832 are males and 11,655 are females. Hindus constitute majority of the population being close to 89% followed by Muslims as 8%. The city has a fairly good literacy rate of 75.98%.

Economy of Pindwara

The city is a major industrial hub today with some of the major cement units located here. JK Lakshmi Cement and Binani cement are two of the big names based in the city. There are also many big and small marble houses in the city due to high quality marble found in the area.

Tourism in Pindwara

Pindwara is known for many ancient temples situated here. There is an ancient temple of Lord Mahavir situated in middle of the city. Gopeshwarji Mahadev Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva is located just 3 KM from here. Markandeshwar Temple is another ancient temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, located just 2 KM from the city. The temple is situated on the Abu Road in Ajari village. It also serves as a good picnic spot with picturesque scenery. There are many date trees here with small hillocks in the background. Markandeshwar Rishi is believed to have meditated here. Inside the temple are images of God Vishnu and Goddess Saraswati. It is also known as the Ajari Temple.
